Recycling Process "The Basics" Empty Recycling Process "The Basics"

Post by Helen Hawk Mon Nov 11, 2013 6:48 pm

Helen tossed you a few safety helmets before leading you into the decrepit building," Here we are. Recycling is a fairly straightforward process. The purpose of recycling is to break an unwanted entity down into usable raw materials. Of course, the amount returned from any recycling operation depends on a number of factors, including the original amount of raw materials needed to construct the entity, and the skill level of the recycler. Recycling also takes time, which is why it is not uncommon to find a member of a recycling faction carrying and operating multiple recycling vehicles at one time.

We will work through the recycling process, starting from the most basic elements of the process and introducing more advanced concepts and techniques in additional sections. The final section will deal with the intricacies of the formulas related to recycling and will show you how to perform calculations to determine the time and credits required to recycle something as well as the return you can expect from an operation."

Without a holoprojector, Helen again played with her datapad again before a run-through of his lecture appeared on your screen, "To begin, we will review the conditions necessary for a facility to be recycled.

According to the Combine’s recycling rules:

The recycling entity must have recycling abilities
The pilot of the recycling entity must be a member of a recycling faction
The recycled entity must be managed or owned by the recycling faction

Now, let's look at these rules one at a time:

The recycling entity must have recycling abilities

This means that, in order to recycle something, you must be piloting one of the two vessels that currently have recycling abilities. These two vessels are:

    GRZ-6B Wrecker

This is a ship with recycling abilities. Currently it is the only ship that can recycle something. It is capable of independent hyperspace travel, but is not typically used in modern recycling operations except in situations where the facilities to be recycled are very small, like fountains and statues, or when there is little concern over whether or not all of the materials are recovered, i.e. in emergencies. This is because the cargo weight capacity of the Wrecker is limited to 2,000 tons.

    EVS Construction Droid

The EVS Construction Droid is a ground vehicle with recycling abilities. It is not capable of flight or independent hyperspace travel, and so must be carried to its destination by a transport or freighter with a hangar bay. The EVS droid is the preferred vehicle for modern recycling operations, mostly because of its higher cargo capacity of 8,000 tons. This capacity ensures recovery of all reclaimed materials from any facility. We at Kerdos call it affectionately "Mouse Muncher".

Let's have a look at the second rule.

The pilot of the recycling entity must be a member of a recycling faction

This means that you must be a member of a recycling faction in order to recycle something.

And the third rule is self-explaining.

The recycled entity must be managed or owned by the recycling faction

This means that your faction must be the manager of the entity you wish to recycle, or the owner.

In addition to these three basic rules, you should keep in mind also the following additional notes:

If you begin a recycling operation and any of the qualifying conditions change, the recycling operation will be aborted. In certain situations, this can lead to simply pausing the job rather than aborting it entirely, but the main point is that you cannot, for example, join a recycling faction, start an operation, and then leave the faction and expect the operation to complete.
If the vehicle you are using to recycle an entity does not have enough cargo space remaining to hold the RMs recovered from an operation, the excess RMs will be lost.
Only one vehicle can be used to recycle one entity, and the vehicle doing the recycling cannot be moved. However, you do not have to remain inside the recycling vehicle in order for it to complete the operation. This makes it possible for one person to haul and use multiple EVS droids to recycle multiple entities.
Currently it is not possible to see which entity is recycling. This rarely causes a problem, because you take note of the time to completion and you get a faction event when the recycling is finished. However, there is a situation that must be avoided at all costs: tractoring an EVS droid back to the freighter while it's still recycling. Please take all possible precautions to avoid such a case.

As you got to the bottom of the lecture notes, Helen led you out of the building. "I hope you brought a lunch today - take a look at the building, watch the workers, and do me a favor and try not to get crushed by any falling beams. I'll see you back here at 1400. Dismissed."
