    Medical Items Empty Medical Items

Post by Helen Hawk Mon Nov 11, 2013 5:29 pm

"Today you're going to learn about medical items, choosing the appropriate treatment, and the harmful medical items I had mentioned previously. I hope you all pay attention, as this lesson is very important."

    Medical Items

In your stations you find two small open crates filled with items. A red one and a purple one. Next to the crates is a box like item. Andrew instructs you to be very careful while handling the items, as they can be dangerous when handled carelessly. "Please start with the red crate and to take out the items as I name them. After you have looked and handled it, put the item back in the proper container. Let's proceed with the first one:

    Antidote:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Taken in the form of an injection which goes through the blood stream of the patient, it prevents any further harm from the poison and allows the victim to regain their strength at a base rate of 3HP per dose.

    Bacta Patch:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

To be used as a substitute in the field before you can get a patient into a Bacta tank.

    Bacta Refill:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

This is used to refill Bacta Tanks and MediKits.

    Healing Stick:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Heals at a base rate of 5HP per dosage, however do NOT use more than two in a twenty-four hour period.

    Laser Scalpel:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

To be used by a doctor to implant cybernetics.

    Stimpack:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Increases Vigor and Strength by +1 for 24 hours. However, it causes +10 stun for up to 6 hours after the 24 hours are over therefore only one Stimpack per day.

"We have now had a look at all proper medical items. All of these have been put back in the red crate? Right. Lets have a look at the items that are not in a crate... Please take a look at the box."

    MediKit:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Heals at a base rate of 7HP per use, however requires one Bacta Refill per use.

"If you've had a good look at the Medikit, gather round the Bacta Tank..."

    Bacta Tank:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
This is the ultimate form of healing, however it must be deployed inside a medical room and filled with three Bacta Refills. It takes about 30 minutes for the patient to fully heal and the amount healed depends on your medical skill. This is probably the most expensive thing you will handle short of spaceships. When using this one, do NOT press the flush button unless you're intent on confronting your CO head on...

"Now then... please return to your stations. Knowing what these medical items are is one thing - knowing how to use them well is an entirely different story.

    Choosing the Most Appropriate Treatment

Although any item can be used to treat any type of wound, using a Bacta Patch for a blaster burn or a flesh wound will take longer to heal than using a more appropriate drug. Below you can see two tables that summarize the healing powers of medical items, so that you can choose the best treatment depending on the health condition of the casualty."

Medical skill, item usage and HP restored:

Medical Skill-- Bacta Patch-- Healing Stick-- MediKit w/ Refill-- Bacta Tank w/ Refills *
    0 1 – 5 3 – 8 5 – 10 --
    1 2 – 10 6 – 16 10 – 20 --
    2 3 – 15 9 – 24 15 – 30 --
    3 4 – 20 12 – 32 20 – 40 --
    4 5 – 25 15 – 40 25 – 50 --
    5 6 – 30 18 – 48 30 – 60 --

    * Bacta Tanks - they will always heal you fully, maxing your HP. Beware, only tanks loaded with pure bacta refills heal you to the max. If your healing ranges from 1 to your max HP, the tank was contaminated with smugglers' drugs.

    Harmful Medical Items

The following are harmful medical items:

    Bacta Ryfill:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Used to harm people, do not use or trade it. This is a deadly drug and should not be used in place of bacta. Never store these inside a MedKit, they use the same slot as a proper Refill and could lead to you using a harmful Ryfill instead of a healing Refill. This also means you should be careful not to load a Bacta Tank with these! Remember, ryll items are completely indistinguishable from bacta items.

    Death Stick:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Used to harm people, do not use or trade it. This is a deadly drug, and not a substitute for a Healing Stick.

    Ryll Patch:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Used to harm people, do not use or trade it. This is a deadly drug, and not a substitute of a Bacta Patch.
